Help Us Fight Cancer One Mile at a Time
Twenty-two and life for the average college student might as well be infinite. Beyond the approaching release from academic life, a seemingly endless world of opportunity and experiences awaits us. Promises of a long life, fulfilling careers, happiness seem to be a given.
This past winter, only days after the New Year we learned that one of our close friends and fraternity brothers would not be returning to Cornell in the spring. At the age of twenty-two he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Type Lymphatic Cancer and would be undergoing six months of Chemo-therapy.
We were shocked to say the least. No one ever believes at our age we might not live to experience a long and healthy life. This epiphany led the three of us to choose a different path this summer than the typical internship most Cornell students choose. We decided to embark on a bike ride across America in Danny’s name with the intent of raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, specifically for Lymphatic Cancer Research.
As a group we have set the goal of raising at least $35,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by the end of our ride. If you would like to donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society please visit http://nyc.lls.llsevent.org/ridefordan2011. We appreciate your support!
